How long is my application valid?
The application is valid for three (3) months. The application must be updated at least every three months, otherwise the application will expire and be removed from our application register.
Where is Ilmajoki?
Seinäjoki is only 20 minutes away by bus or car. If you rent a shared room, the bus ticket is included in the rent.
How to apply?
Leave us an apartment application at https://app.kodia.fi/public/ilmajoen-vuokratalot-oy/apply you can change the language in the application to English. All people who are moving must be declared in the application. Attach to the application a student certificate or an acceptance letter, as well as a student residence permit. After that we will check what apartments we have available for you.
What to choose on application for city or neighbourhood?
On the application form, you will be asked “Where would you like to move?” (City or neighbourhood). Please choose “keskusta”, which means city center. All of our student apartments are located there, and there is a bus stop nearby.
How can I change the information I provided in my application?
If your housing wishes or life situation change, you can update the information in your application by notifying us by e-mail to ilmajoenvuokratalot@ilmajoki.fi.
Do I need to provide my children’s information with my application?
Yes. The application must include the surname, first name and personal identity code. If you cannot get them registered, please contact us by e-mail with the missing information.
Can I apply for an internal exchange from an apartment to another?
Yes, but there must be no open claims.
Where I can see the apartment that are available?
You can see our available student apartments at https://ilmajoenvuokratalot.fi/vapaat-asunnot/opiskelija-asunnot/. By pressing the address, you can see more information about the apartment, such as a floor plan.
Please note that the number of rooms refers to the entire apartment, not only the individual shared room being rented. The rent amount also differs when renting a single room instead of the entire apartment.
Smoking is prohibited indoors and on the property. The apartments can be on the first or second floor with their own entrance.
How much is security deposit?
No security deposit is charged for shared apartments (soluasunnot) that are included in the separate price list. If you wish to move into another type of apartment that is not a specially priced shared apartment with exceptional furnishings, a security deposit must be paid according to the instructions provided.
How do I pay the rent?
The rent is paid monthly to the bank account specified in the rental agreement and in the attached payment instructions, by the due date. Rent cannot be paid in cash. The tenant must open a bank account as soon as possible after arriving in Finland in order to be able to pay the rent. The nearest bank is in Ilmajoki, on the same street where the apartments are located.
We don’t expect the first payment to arrive by the end of the month if you are only just moving here. So don’t worry about it—you can take care of everything step by step once you’ve been to the bank.
How I get the keys to my apartment?
Our office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 15:00. We are closed on weekends and public holidays. Apartment keys can only be collected during office hours or at other times by separate agreement.
Where I can wash clothes?
The property has a laundry room that costs 1 €/use (only coins).
Will I share a room with another student?
All student apartments for foreign students are rented so that several people share the same room, and in this we take into account the residents’ gender. For this reason, it is important to state your gender in the application, as we are not always able to determine it from the name alone. Residents of different genders may live in the same apartment.
Can I choose my own roommate?
You can express your preference in the application, but ultimately we decide on the roommates, and if necessary, they may change during the tenancy. If you wish to move into a shared apartment as a couple and live together in the same room, we will take this into consideration separately. In such cases, however, the rent will be slightly higher, as the planned number of tenants cannot be accommodated in the room.
Are there shared bathroom and a kitchen?
In some apartments, more than 10 people live together, with 3–4 people per room, but each room has its own bathroom and the whole apartment has a shared kitchen. In smaller apartments, there is one bathroom and one kitchen for all residents, but fewer people live there.
Can I rent other apartments?
You can also rent other apartments, but please note that what is included in the rent differs significantly. For example electricity, water, and furniture are not included in the rent. In addition, you must purchase your own bus ticket, which costs approx. 110 €/month (includes 44 trips). An electricity contract must be made with an electricity provider, water is billed periodically by the landlord, and the tenant is responsible for obtaining their own furniture. Household appliances (a refrigerator and a stove) are included in the apartment, but no other appliances or furniture are provided.
You can submit an application together to us and state that you wish to live together among the three of you, without any other tenants in the apartment. We can take this into consideration and look for a suitable apartment for you. You need to know that the responsibility is different of the apartment when you are renting together than alone one room.
Is there other student on the area?
The aim is to bring together a large community of international students within the same residential area. The current estimated number of students is over 80. All of them are students at SeAMK, and several are even from the same class. This creates a strong sense of community, with peer support readily available.
Mobile application and browser access for the tenant
Your landlord has taken rental management into use with the Kodia system. You can access the system either via the mobile application or directly through a browser. You can download the application for Android from the Google Play Store or for iOS from the App Store. The application is named Kodia. Your username is the email address specified in your lease agreement. You will receive an email with instructions on how to set a password. If your lease does not include your email address, you can provide it to your landlord to gain access to Kodia.
The Kodia service enables the digital handling of matters between the tenant and the landlord, both through the mobile application and a web browser, anytime and anywhere.
